Going South in the North Forum

WHIN hosted a sexual and reproductive health forum in March 2015 which aimed to further explore the findings of our sexual and reproductive health report Going South in the North and work to engage partners in future work.

Excellent presentations were delivered by staff from the Royal Women's Hospital, the Victorian Cancer Council, the Centre for Culture, Ethnicity and Health, and the University of Melbourne on five issues that were emphasised in Going South as areas of concern for the north: teenage pregnancy, chlamydia, hepatities B, Pap screening and HPV immunisation.

Over 50 attendees from a wide range of organisations, including community health, hospital, local government and private practice, were present. Evaluations from the forum highlighted that there is a shared understanding of the importance of sexual and reproductive health and a need for increased availability of both clinical and educational services to meet current demand.
